Intrinsic Aging

- Attributes:

- synonym:
Senescence

- description:

Intrinsic aging is an increase in vulnerability to age-related diseases leading to the death of an individual secondary to a natural process related to the second law of thermodynamics (entropy). Intrinsic aging or senescence occurs silently from within starting at the molecular level, in the same sense that termites, if unchecked, will sooner or later, destroy the structural intigrity of even the largest wooden house.
